Drawing continues to be a central part of my interest, from studies out of anatomical books I obsessively made in high school through a drawing emphasis in college and now as I continue to explore it and adjacent media like printmaking. Often my drawings are terribly rudimentary or don’t make it past the prep stages for a painting, so I’ve dedicated time to turning sketches into finished pieces on paper as a periodic touchstone in the development of my work.

Rather than existing as part of a body of paintings, these drawings serve as an independent record of the men who’ve posed for me. Since 2021, I’ve made a point of gathering poses in this classical bust format during a session, either supplemental to poses or set aside as studies themselves. I’ll continue to build on this archive as I go and the people who pose for me return over time (hopefully) while my work evolves. Not as grand or elaborate as paintings, but an important and intimate continuation of my artistic practice.
