This play, based on the true story of Russian poet Anna Akhmatova, is set in her post-World War II Leningrad apartment. As such, the furniture is shabby, the color palette something of an army green and beige, and a sagging, tattered ceiling section was implemented as a sort of translucent surface for light and pattern to be cast during the play's moments of nostalgic memories of better, brighter times.
