Shaw would've written a book about the settings of his plays had it been an option, so thorough and exhaustive his descriptions are. In this production, the director and I chose to pursue Shaw's vision and create as full a design as space and budget would allow. The result is 3 fully realized locations that come apart and pull together at the seams in seconds for each new scene. We created wing space in the theatre itself to accommodate such a large amount of scenery and choreographed the complex transitions into the play so as to carry them out in a fast, engaging, and ultimately enjoyable action for the audience to watch.
